Las Lajas has preserved the charm of a rural idyll with its village character. Not far from the resort is the famous Playa Las Lajas, one of the most beautiful beaches on the Pacific coast. It is almost unbelievable that this dark, fine sand beach on weekdays is almost menless and is frequented only at the weekend.
In the village are two supermarkets and several restaurants (including pizza, German restaurant and regional cuisine).
The surrounding area is characterized by a lot of greenery and weideland. Cattle farming is an important economic factor in the region. North of Las Lajas begins the mountainous region of Chiriqui, from which one has a fascinating view over the partly mangrove-covered forests.
